Chicago Cubs catchers for 2012
Update 4-1-2012
Geovany Soto and Steve Clevenger are the Chicago Cubs catchers coming out of spring training for 2012. Koyie Hill was the back up last year but was not retained. Steve Clevenger beat out Welington Castillo for the job. Castillo is with AAA Iowa.
Geovany Soto is looking for a comeback year. He only hit .228 with 17 home runs and just 54 runs batted in. After winning the Rookie of the Year in 2008 the club and fans expected more out of him.
Koyie Hill was not retained so the Cubs could bring in one of their AAA catchers. Hill was great with the pitchers and when he played the Cubs seemed to win more often. But it sure wasn't because of his bat since he only hit .194.
